George Murphy has been writing and performing his Secret History series for the last 5 years. Here’s what some people have said about his performances:
Richard Hemingway (Shaggy Dog Storytellers) ‘George is the King of the Monologue.’
Ursula Holden Gill (Actress and storyteller) ‘George is Hebden Bridge’s answer to the legendary Stanley Holloway!’
Kathryn Flynn Driver (Event organiser) ‘Your monologues were achingly funny.’
Robert Norbury (Photographer) ‘Your Sirens sequence is one of the funniest things I’ve seen.’
Rod Dimbleby (Storyteller) ‘As the other half in the Rod and George Show…I never tire of hearing (these tales)…there’s always something fresh in the humour, the subtleties and the insights.’
Christine McMahon (Storyteller) ‘George’s monologues are brilliant. He manages to take issues, serious or not so serious, and make us laugh with him at the issues and at ourselves, which is precisely what we need! I always look forward to hearing a new one.’
George is available for bookings at large venues or small. He has performed at festivals, clubs, pubs, town halls, parties, societies, universities, U3A gatherings, chapels and missions, in comedy, poetry and storytelling clubs and at charity concerts.
